Our customer is a specialist multi-utility infrastructure provider installing electricity, gas and water networks across industrial and infrastructure sectors. It operates as a NAV (New Appointment and Variation) provider in the UK water industry.
As a NAV, they are expected to:
A system was required to be installed in a new residential development in Manchester, to monitor and report on the water network’s performance and to provide real-time data on water pressure, flow and overall coverage.
Our customer engaged Stream on their first project together to implement a solution to ensure constant network visibility. Stream designed and delivered a smart communication network to capture data every 15 minutes.
The strategic placement and installation of the AMI gateways by Stream engineers resulted in 99% coverage across the entire development which consists of canal-side townhouses and apartments within 12 and 14 story buildings. This ensured 400 water meter customers were connected and online in just one day. The technical expertise from Stream resulted in coverage benchmarking far above the 60-70% industry average.
AMI gateways automate meter readings, and coupled with Stream’s bespoke data platform and dashboard, enables real-time monitoring and faster leakage detection for our customers, saving money and preventing environmental and property damage. No longer needing to rely on meter reading teams, this allows our customer to save money which can be passed on to their customers in turn while also ensuring accurate billing.
Crucially, Stream didn’t just supply the gateways, they handled everything from supplying the water metering, system review and validation, to setup, commissioning and ongoing support. This end-to-end delivery via engineering-led solutions bridges the gap between ensuring our customer is complying as a water utility provider and providing clear, operational benefits.
