Stream was engaged to carry out a survey of a landscape development at a site in Cheshire.
As a NAV (New Appointment and Variation), they are responsible for managing the water supply at a large, standalone site operated by Seashell Trust, a charity supporting children and young people with complex learning difficulties in Cheshire.
As the appointed NAV, they hold the regulatory obligation to:
The site had no gateways installed which meant no network coverage or data was being collected in real time, leaving the NAV without the tools or insight required to meet compliance expectations or to operate efficiently. To obtain accurate readings, it was relying on AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) a process whereby engineers must be on site to take readings at regular intervals, a costly and time intensive process.
The NAV needed to take the first steps towards ensuring constant network visibility, and they wanted a trusted engineering partner who could deliver a smart, scalable solution from the ground up which is where Stream came in.
The AMI concentrator gateway used during the site survey delivered exceptional coverage and many benefits:
Up until the survey was carried out by Stream, the Seashell Trust site was unmonitored unless meter readers were on site. This survey helped to generate live data showing our customers that by installing AMI networks they will be able to report accurately, bill correctly and identify any anomalies in system performance, such as leakage, to ensure this is rectified as quickly and efficiently as possible.
