ST/ST4000 Swirl Flowmeter
Unique to the 4000 range the SR4000 Flowmeter utilises Swirl technology to achieve a unique phenominum that enables the flowmeter to be installed with virtually no upstream or downstream straight lengths making it ideal for installations where space is restricted.
The inlet guide body causes the axially entering flow to rotate. In the centre of this rotation a vortex core is formed, which due to a backflow is forced into secondary rotation (see figure below).

The frequency of the secondary rotation is proportional to the flowrate and for optimised internal geometries is linear over a wide flow range. This frequency is detected by a Piezo sensor. The flowrate proportional frequency signal is generated in the flowmeter primary (body) is processed in the converter into a current output (4-20mA) signal.
